Service Engineer

Olivers are a long-standing family business with a heritage in farm machinery going back 200 years. We were the first independent CLAAS dealer in 1947 and the business has gone from strength to strength with significant growth over the last 10 years. 

We are currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Service Technician to join our dedicated Service Team at our Winchester depot. The successful candidate will play a key role in servicing, maintaining, and repairing machinery from our market leading franchises, including CLAAS and Horsch, with a particular focus on harvesting machinery. If you have previous experience in this field ideally in the agricultural, commercial vehicle or construction industry and can work on your own initiative and as part of a team we would like to hear from you.

Reporting directly to the Service manager key Responsibilities include:

  • Service and maintain machinery from our range of first class franchises including CLAAS and Horsch to the manufacturers specifications and to ensure machine reliability and safety but with a focus on Harvesting Machinery.
  • Have a keen eye for detail, reporting machine defects and upselling the services provided by the company wherever possible
  • Successfully diagnose and rectify electrical, hydraulic, powertrain and various other faults prior to initiating and completing a repair
  • Operate diagnostic software via a laptop computer when required (training will be given)
  • Complete a detailed report of work completed along with supporting photographs and documenting of all worked times
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary to fulfil the role.

Service Engineer Requirements:

  • Experience – knowledge and experience of a variety of machinery ideally in the agricultural, commercial vehicle or construction industry. Ideally, have a relevant qualification within the field of Land Based Engineering
  • Ability to interact with customers and develop/build a relationship that ultimately delivers a positively satisfying experience
  • Communication - Ability to deliver appropriate communication both internally and externally to allow planning and continued work to be effectively completed
  • Time Management – Ability to set timescales to own tasks to enable completion of duties and to ensure all tasks are carried out within a timely manner whilst not compromising safety
  • Present a professional image at all times
    Must carry a full driving licence as well as have the ability to operate machinery on site for testing purposes.

Hours

  • Monday - Thursday, 8am – 5pm and Friday, 8am – 4pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch break (basic 39 hour working week)
  • Overtime available (Mon – Sat time and a half, Sunday – double time, bank holiday Monday – double time & day in lieu)
  • You will be required to do some weekend working especially during our peak harvest season
